Tutorial Assets
The following assets were used in the creation of this tutorial.
Step 1
Create a new document with 800px width and 800px height in adobe illustrator.
Step 2
Select the ’rounded rectangle tool’ and make a rectangular shape as shown below.
Step 3
Keep the stroke of black color #00000 and fill it with a gradient of lighter grey color #333333 at the edges and darker grey color #171717 in the middle. See the image for reference.
Step 4
Now select the Rectangle Tool (M) and make a rectangular shape for the screen and fill it with black color #000000.
Step 5
Select the Ellipse Tool (L) and make a circle for the dial shape on IPod, fill it with grey color #58595B and keep the stroke black.
Step 6
Now make another small circle in the middle of the big one and cancel the stroke, fill it with a linear gradient from black to grey at 90 degree of angle.
Step 7
It’s time to make the earphones. Select ‘Pen Tool (P)’ and make a shape as shown below. Fill it with the (Cast Iron1) gradient. You’ll easily find it in Swatch libraries menu.
Step 8
Now again select the ‘Ellipse Tool’ and make a semi oval shape as shown below. Fill it with the (Lead1) gradient.
Step 9
Make a crescent like shape with ‘Pen Tool’; fill it with white color #ffffff and no stroke. Reduce its opacity to 65%.
Step 10
Your first earphone is ready. Copy and paste it on the other side of the IPod. Select a simple round brush or just use ‘Pen tool’ to make wires and place all these things as shown in the image below.
Step 11
Now open up that music covers image, copy and paste it to our working document. Scale it down and place it on the screen.
Step 12
Select the ‘Rectangle tool’ again and make a strip, fill it with white color then reduce its opacity to 62%. Place it according to the given image.
Step 13
To make the battery sign, I just made a rounded rectangle shape, filled it with (Green Pepper) gradient, and made divisions with the Line Segment Tool (\).
Step 14
Now add the word “Menu” to the dial and for that I’ve used ‘Myriad Pro’ font with white color, made it bold and size it 16.63 pt. Reduced the opacity to 85%. I used Illustrator’s arrow brush to make playing symbols around the dial with white color.
Step 15
To add a drop shadow beneath the IPod, select ‘Rounded rectangle tool’, once again make a shape as shown below, fill it with black color, reduce the opacity to 52% and then go to the Effect, select Blur and then select Gaussian Blur. Make the radius 65.0% pixels as shown below.
That’s it. Hope you learned something useful. Don’t forget to share your thoughts.
