The “Pop Out effect” is a visual design technique used to make elements appear as if they are protruding from the background, giving them a three-dimensional, elevated appearance. This effect creates a sense of depth and emphasis, making the element more prominent and eye-catching. It’s often used in graphic design, web design, and multimedia presentations to draw attention to specific elements. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to achieve this effect:

Go to Canva and create a new design with your preferred dimensions. Click on “Elements” from the left-hand menu Elements > Frames and type “Phone“.

Drag and drop the selected phone frame onto your design canvas and resize it according to your need.

Now lets search for “Orca” images. Go to Elements > Photos and type “Orca jumping in water“. You’ll now see a variety of Orca jumping in water photos. Click on one suitable to add it to your design.

I have selected the below orca photo. Let’s resize it.

First duplicate the orca photo. After duplicating, you can drag the new photo to a different location on your design. You can also resize, crop, or apply different effects to the duplicated photo if needed.

If you want to adjust colors, opacity, or apply filters, you can do so using the options available in the top toolbar. Drag your original orca photo over the frame you placed on your design and it will automatically snap into the frame. Canva will crop the image to fit the frame’s shape.

Note : If you need to edit the image fitted inside the frame shape then Double-click on the photo within the frame. This will allow you to move or resize the photo within the frame. Drag the photo to reposition it or use the handles to resize it.

Now let’s remove the background for the duplicated orca photo. Select the photo and click on the “Edit image” button in the top toolbar and choose BG Remover also known as Background Remover to remove the background of the duplicated orca photo.

Click and drag the corners of the duplicated orca photo to resize it, or click and drag the graphic to position it where you want it on your canvas. Here I have adjusted to place it above the original orca photo where it is fitted inside the frame.

In the search bar under “Elements” type “water splash” and hit Enter. Elements > Graphics > Water Splash
