The 3D Text Shadow Effect is a design technique that creates the illusion of depth and dimension in text by adding a shadow that appears to be cast by the text itself. This effect can make your text stand out and give it a more dynamic and eye-catching appearance. In this tutorial we are going to show how to do it.
Let’s start.
Step 1 : Open Canva and Create a new design by selecting the dimensions you want.
Step 2 : Click on the Text tab in the left toolbar. Choose a text style or click Add a heading to insert your text.
Step 3 : To start, add the text you want to apply the effect to. In this case, I’ve used the word ‘Design’.
Step 4 : Choose a font style that complements your design theme. Canva provides a wide range of options, from modern to decorative. Adjust the text color to something vibrant or bold to achieve your desired look. Font – Oswald, Size – 91
Step 5 : Increase the font size to fit your design.
Step 6 : Type ‘3D design background’ in the search bar at the top of the sidebar and press Enter.
Next, navigate to Elements > 3D design background. Click the image you want, and it will be added to your design.
Step 7 : Add a background that complements your design. Here, I have selected the background below.
Step 8 : Just Right-click on the image and select Set Image as Background.
Step 9 : Now select the text and go to the “Effects,” and choose the shadow style you prefer.
Step 10 : Adjust the shadow’s offset, direction, blur, and color for the 3D effect. Set the Offset to 57, Direction to 100, and Transparency to 52, then click “Add to design.”
Change the color of the shadow text to a darker shade or a contrasting color that suits your design.
Step 11 : Adjust the position of the shadow text to perfect the 3D effect. The offset controls the depth of the effect.
Step 12 : Congratulations! You’ve successfully created a 3D text shadow effect in Canva!
Step 13 : Testing different backgrounds can elevate your design and create stunning visual effects. Here’s how our 3D text shadow effect looks on various backgrounds.
