A grunge border is a design element that adds a rugged, distressed, or worn-out look to the edges of your design. It often features textures like scratches, splatters, or rough edges, giving your project a more edgy and raw aesthetic. You can use it to add character and depth to your designs!

To create a grunge effect to an image in Canva, follow these steps:

Step 1 : Go to Canva and click on the Create a design button found on the top right. You can choose an size you want.

Step 2 : Go to the Elements tab on the side panel. Use the search bar at the top and type “grunge background” and press enter.

Step 3 : Browse through the options and select a grunge background that you like to use them in your design.

Step 4 : From the editor, go to Apps on the side panel. Search for Frame Maker in the search bar.

Step 5 : Using “Frame Maker” app we can create custom frame or convert Photo/Graphic into a frame. In Frame Maker there will be two options Create and Convert.

Step 6 : Select the option “Convert” and click on the button “Convert design to frame

Step 7 : Then make sure to select the maximum size and check the Transparent background option. After this click on “Export“.

Step 8 : Now your graphic will be converted into the frame.

Step 9 : Once your frame is ready, adjust as needed and delete the original graphic.

Step 10 : Upload your image or select any photos from the Photos tab. Go to Elements > Photos and type “ Nature“.

Drag and drop the below Nature photo from Elements into the frame until it fits inside.

Step 11 : This will transform your design into the selected frame style. Hence it makes your photo with grunge effect border. And that’s it! Here is the final result.

Step 12 : You can experiment with different photos, so that you can enhance your design as below.
